MSLax's 8U GAME AND PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The MSLax 8U program is unique in that while there are some similarities to the 10/12/14/18U programs, there are numerous differences.

A couple of key similarities are:

  • 8U will play in spring & summer seasons in 2024 to be in alignment with all other age levels.
  • The same equipment is used at all levels (stick, goggles, mouthguard).
  • 8U plays on the same size field as that of 10U.

Several of the key differences include:

  • 8U will have 4 regular season games, 1 Jamboree, and will play in the end of season tournament (1 day only).
  • 8U games will continue to be refereed by coaches in 2024 (we will revisit this for 2025).
  • 8U does not keep official score during their games.
  • Double rostering is allowed for associations who may have more than one 8U team.
  • 8U games are played 4v4 while at older ages games are either 7v7 or 12v12.
  • Goals are put triangle side up, as there are no goalies at 8U.
